Movie Convention Research: Halloween (2018)

  • The elements of Thriller that the movie "Halloween (2018)" has that I chose to base my final task on is close ups, eye level shot, medium long shot, low angle, high angle, extreme close ups, tilts, wide shots, over the shoulder, zoom in, dutch angle/shots, and establishing shots, tracking shots, two and three shots, and action matching. With Mis-En-Scene, this movie used costumes, acting, makeup, lighting, setting, and props. This movie also included, shot reverse shots, inserts, jump cuts, cross cutting, and cutaways. Lastly, dialogue, diegetic and non-diegetic sound, voice over, sound bridge, sound motifs, and ambient sound was used.
  • The elements of Thriller that the movie that I liked was suspense, anxiety, unexpected plot twists, jumpscares, and surprises. Also, the use of sound motifs whenever Michael Myers would appear or the ambient sounds that would play in the background.
  • For this movie there was some heavy gore that I couldn't somewhat take. Other gore scene weren't that bad and were easy to handle.

Title Research: Get Out

The opening sequence of this movie is from Get Out and I found it on artofthetitle.com In the movie "Get Out" there are a lot of title displayed in the opening sequence. You have the name of the studio, name of production company, film title, casting by, music by, the costume designer, who edited the movie, the production designer, the director of photography, who produced, written, and directed the movie. The images that are prioritized in the opening scene are the view of a street in a neighborhood, a forest, the main character's photographs, the main character's apartment and him shaving, his girlfriend or wife delivering him food, and the main character scrolling through his photography camera. The connotations these images carry is anticipation. Production Blog: Filming Chelsey's Part

On Wednesday the 12th, I resumed filming with Chelsey. This time David was not able to make it, so I had to film/direct Chelsey. As the director, I made to sure to bring my props for the commercial. Again, I am the owner of the headphones I had to make sure that I brought them. Also, I had to bring the equipment since I was the one who already had a tripod for a phone. This time we used my phone, since it would be more easier to import the clips into my computer. I also brought the storyboard with me again to figure what scenes and angles we needed to film. The first thing that I directed was the transition from me to Chelsey, signifying that this is now Chelsey's part of the commercial. For the next scene I did 2 different shots that had incorporated long shot and a medium shot. The next scene that I filmed was Chelsey walking while I did a pan and a zoom following her.
